From a technical point of view, there is little justification for packing the particulate filter in a plastic bag, as the risk of contamination of the filter during storage or transport is virtually zero. At the same time, giving up plastic bags is simply good for the planet.

The main cause of potential problems is the paraffin contained in diesel fuel, which has a positive effect on engine power, and ensures low exhaust emissions. But at low temperatures, it is precipitated from the fuel and converts into a crystalline wax mass, blocking the fuel filter.

The quality of the air filter gasket affects the entire process of filtration and the air that is sucked in by the engine. Each gasket must provide an airtight and durable connection between the filter and the housing in which the filter is installed.

Cleaning the air filter not only does not improve, but also deteriorates its filtration properties. Only periodical replacement of the filter with a new one can provide efficient filtration of the air entering directly into the combustion chamber of the engine.

Fuel filters in engines of this type are most-often equipped with separators, in which the water separated from diesel fuel is collected. Before the winter, the separator should be emptied, because the water in it can freeze and increase the risk of damage to the filter.
